We love the city of Valencia and are lucky to live about an hour’s drive from there, so we can visit quite regularly. Due to Covid we hadn’t been there in a while so decided to spend a night there in July 2021 on the way back from a trip to Catalonia.  To read more about our previous trips to Valencia, things to do, places to stay, restaurants, etc visit the Valencia page of our main Travel Jimmy website.

Hotel Sorolla Centro Valencia

Sorolla Centro Hotel

On this trip we stayed at the Sorolla Centro Hotel in the very centre of Valencia, 5 mins walk from central station and Xativa metro station.

Our room was nice, with a comfortable bed, large walk-in shower, large flat screen TV, etc.  We didn’t take the deal with breakfast but there is a bakery and several cafes more or less right on the hotel’s doorstep.

BAAT Restaurant

Anyone who has read the Valencia page of our main Travel Jimmy website will know that our favourite restaurant for many years was the Ginger Loft.  It sadly no longer exists but Mike and Santi who used to run the Ginger Loft now have a new restaurant in Ruzafa called BAAT which serves multicultural food which, we were pleased to see, still includes Thai.  Nobody outside Thailand does Thai food better than Mike.  The flavours are just wonderful, and the Prawn & Squid salad (see photo) and Green Thai Chicken curry were both delicious.  We’ll definitely be back when we’re next in Valencia!

Kika Salad Papardella Restaurant Valencia

Pappardella Restaurant

We had a tasty salad with crispy chicken and avocado at Pappardella Restaurant near Plaza de la Reina.  We’ve eaten here before, and also at their sister restaurant Pomodoro which specialises in pizzas.  After walking around in the heat, the ice-cold beer and clara went down very well!

We took a walk round the Barrio del Carmen area of the city and took some photos of the graffiti.
